Platonic is an Ugly Word, July 14

Do you remember what your mother told you when you were little; Never judge a book by its cover? Every once and a while we get a reminder to the truth of this. Mine came, not as real surprise, but as an interesting addition to my previous observations.

After a day of doing very little and accomplishing almost nothing (it was raining and I was tired), I went over to the Princess of Culinary Delights for dinner. Since we had met, she had divulged some personal details that were, I hesitate to say surprising, but were definitely unexpected. Of course, you will want to know what they are, but I think in the interest of tact and respect, I will leave you guessing. Well, just so I am not a complete jerk, I will give this up: Princess of Fashion and Style is also a law student. Yes fellas, I can arrange introductions.

Onto my original point then. When I got to her place, one of the things that caught my attention was the floor to ceiling bookshelf overflowing with books. This was actually the fourth thing in the list of attention grabbing items. The first was the amount of her shoes I had to climb over just to get in the door, but after shopping with her, I wasn't particularly surprised by this.

As I perused the books, I was surprised at the number of authors and titles I recognized, and by the number of books I had read. For some one who was the first person I met in my travels beyond Canada and a random introduction at that, we certainly had a lot more in common than I had anticipated. We lost the evening discussing the things that interested us and recommending books to each other until neither one of us could stand any more tea and our yawns became frequent. By the time I reached my hostel and was in bed, the sun was coming up.
